    Hi!

I'm Bec and I coordinate Go Real.  I've also run the Cornish Real Nappy Project since it started back in 2000.

I have 3 children who have all worn real nappies - my oldest is now 9 but our original nappies are still going strong!  My 6 year old has featured in lots of real nappy photo shoots - he loves seeing his photo at the moment... My baby (althought she was 2 in March) is now dry during the day and our nappy pile is being passed on to my sister in law!

Although I work part time I do check on here every day and will do my best to answer any questions!

Look forward to reading about some of you now...

Hi, I'm Nancy and I work with Bec at Go Real as well as volunteering for the Cornish Real Nappy Project.

I have 2 little boys (2 & 3) both who were in nappies together at one point... that was fun!  Unfortunately (never thought I'd say that) I think my youngest will be potty trained soon so I'll no longer be using them but my friend is pleased about this as they're all getting passed along to her!

I also work part time but check on here most days when my children allow it so please say hi and start chatting!

    'Speak' soon

Hello, I'm Aly a mum of 3 children, kieran is 7, Caitlin is 4 next month and Mia is 15 months.I had thought about terry nappies when i was staying in hospital after the birth, but I never looked into it.I heard a bit more about before Caitlin was born but I didn't take the plunge until a month after her birth. She was wearing them until she was 2.I used brand new terry nappies until she was 14 months when I found a set of Motherease from A NCT sale.Since then I have acquired numerous nappies and wraps from other mums.Which is the great thing about real nappies because you can re-sell them or pass them on.When I had Mia I used them from birth.I always chat to new mums about using real nappies when I attend mum and baby groups (that's when the flashy wraps get worn) as many are unsure them and decide to wait and see.I do manage to covert most of them, even if it is partial use.

Hello! I'm Lyndsey and mum of one 5.5month old girl.  She has been in cloth from 1 week old and it has become almost an obsession/addiction!!

I started researching real nappies whilst I was pregnant I realised that everything had to be done online as there was nothing locally.  I wanted to see/feel/touch the nappies before I bought my main stash but ended up buying random bits second hand off ebay.

I decided to 'Go Cloth' primarily for money saving reasons with the environmental impact of using disposables a close second.  I did loads of research in finding the right solution for our family and thought it would be nice to be able to offer a more personal service to parents without all of the legwork! I missed being able to feel and look at the nappies before buying which is crucial in making the right real nappy choices for your family as some online pictures just don’t do them justice.

My website is ManchesterRealNappies.co.uk and we aim to promote the use of washable nappies and supply the leading brands of the very best in today's high performance real nappies to the parents of Manchester.

I also hold Nappuccino events locally - the next one is 4th August in South Manchester

I look forward to chatting to you all.

Hello all I am pregnant at the moment and am currently looking into using real nappies. My mom used them on me and they worked so I am going for it.  I am really impressed to see that my local council will actually support this by giving a £30 cash back.  I feel that this is not pushed enough as only after looking for a long time on the website did I find out.

Anyway you all seem very experienced real nappy users and I wondered if you could help a newbie like me to decide which terry nappy to go for.  I have heard that there are some terry nappies that are a better quality than others and I feel that it will be worth the investment! Thank you :)

    Hi Amy

Sorry for taking a while to reply... the date thing on here is odd, I couldn't see a new post!  We're getting it sorted at the moment.

So.... terries....if you go to the Nappy Finder Listing section, you can put your postcode in and you'll be able to get the contact details of an advisor near you who'll be more than happy to meet you and go through all the different types for you.  Real nappies are fantastic and will save you so much money, it's worth speaking to somebody before you purchase to get some advice and find out what's going to be best for you.

Personally I like all in ones (waterproof and absorbant together) but everybody has their favourites.  x

    Hi!

I'm Alison, an independent Nappy advisor, and I give advice both locally in person, or online. There aren't many independent ones about, but I don't like to be tied by a parent company to what I can and can't advise on or sell!  I sell lots of WAHM nappies, but only those made in Europe, as I don't think it's very green to be importing nappies thousands of miles from places like Australia, the States, Canada and China, when we have nappies just a good, if not better, made here in Europe!

I have a team of cloth bum mums who test out new nappies and give me reports on, as well as of course trying them out myself on my grandchildren!

Hi, I'm Jennifer Elworthy and I work for Dundee Council as their real nappy project officer.  I've been on the look out for a good independent forum to direct people to.  This would be perfect but I see it is in the early stages at the moment - do you have any plans to try and get the different projects accross the country to email out to their contacts list to try and get more people involved in this forum.  I just think there are so many different little discussion groups and sites created it would be great to just have one central one that most people used.
