Nest was founded in 2011 by husband and wife team Lisa and Paul Green after Lisa noticed a gap in the market for a high street presence of cloth nappies, as she explains:

"From the start, I have been passionate about cloth nappies (some say passionate, some say addicted!) They are better for the environment, they are better for your baby and they cost less than disposables, what's not to love?!

But it struck me that in the UK there were very few (if any) retail outlets selling a good range of real nappies, to allow parents to touch them and see how they feel, how they differ from eachother, how they go together with different liners and wraps, how they fit on your baby etc. Many mothers have asked me things like "But don't you have to use pins with those?" when they see my children in real nappies, and I'm sure many have pictured me boiling up my nappies on the hob once a week (I don't, I use the washing machine like everyone else) - there seems to a lot of misconception amongst modern parents that real nappies have not moved on since the 1950s!

I was convinced that if real nappies were more widely available on the High Street, in a place where people go and "play" with them, some of the mystery surrounding them might be taken away and mothers may be more inclined to try them. I admit, when you are new to real nappying it can seem a bit bewildering - talk of sized versus birth to potty, pockets, all-in-ones, snap-in-ones, inserts, liners, wraps, wool, lanolising..... can be very confusing! This is where a bit of personalised one-to-one advice becomes invaluable.
