Cloth Sanitary Pads

Washable pads: absorbent cloth pads - many designed along the lines of single use sanitary pads - with wings that popper together under the pant to hold the pad in place.  They are easy to use with styles, shapes and sizes to suit everyone.  Also known as; CSP (Cloth Sanitery Pads).

Once used they can be stored in a container, or wet bag until you put them in the washing machine. Then simply wash with non bio detergent (add a natural nappy sanitiser if you wish) at 40 – 60 degree’s C. For a wash routine example see our washing guide lines for nappies.

What are they made from?

Typically a cloth pad is made from three layers, a backing, a core and a top.

Backing: This could be a water proof fabric called PUL or a water resistant fabric such as wool or fleece.

Core: This is the absorbent part of the pad. Fabrics often used are bamboo fleece or terry, cotton terry or a man-made fabric called Zorb.

Top: This part sits next to your skin, you’ll often find makers use a patterned fabric. Usually; cotton, bamboo or fleece.
